For the past forty years, no other international city has generated more significant writers than Belfast. Out of the ravages of civil war, a vital literature has developed, one rich in the possibilities of language. Post-ceasefire Belfast has emerged as a new city, not unlike the Phoenix, the symbol of our city of Atlanta. Belfast is right now -- a place of exciting and largely undocumented change, in the wake of ceasefire, new government, economic changes, and a renewed sense of itself.

Join us for an exciting symposium exploring the ways in which Belfast art and culture have been shaped by recent history. A special edition of Five Points: A Literary Magazine will be published in conjunction with the symposium.

Andy White

Belfast born singer and song writer Andy White has merged pop sensibility with lyrical excellence, social commentary and acoustic guitars ever since his debut single 'Religious Persuasion' (Stiff Records, 1985) and first album 'Rave On Andy White' (Decca, 1986).

Andy White's new album 'Songwriter' was released in the UK and Europe, September 28, 2009 on Floating World Records. Distribution is through Universal in the UK and Evangeline and its licencees in Europe. Catalogue number FW 034.
